Gratitude comes in many forms — a hug, a verbal thank you, a gift, or even a knowing look. But how do you say thank you to the people who sustain you, to supporters whose contributions quite literally mean the difference between survival and disappearance? That's the conundrum we find ourselves in at DAME. We are filled to the brim with thanks for each reader, for every member contribution no matter the amount; for any time a reader shares our content with someone else, or takes the time to reflect on what it means to them. These acts of support and generosity not only keep our doors open in this ever-tumultuous time for independent media (let's be honest: for all media), but also supply us with the motivation we need to keep doing our important work. It is our mission to remain a woman-run, autonomous publication fueled by reader and member support, and one that prioritizes critical journalism and giving a platform to underrepresented voices. It is these values that allow us to devote space to deep dives into today's most pressing issues--from the plague of disinformation in death of accountability; or to publish a lovely essay about learning to find acceptance, then gratitude, in the loss of a beloved pet; or to partner with the Economic Hardship Reporting Project to publish an essay that flips the narrative on what it means to live in poverty--not with shame, but with pride and a sense of community. So, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for being a part of the DAME community. And if you, like us, believe that Small Business Saturday also includes small media, we'd love you to "shop" with us by becoming a member or making a donation. You'll be helping to keep DAME publishing and independent. https://www.damemagazine.com/plans/memberships/ Jennifer Reitman Founder, Publisher DAME ps.
